Maria Arciniegas March 7, 2000 http://servercc.oakton.edu/~maria/classwww131/project/labs-edit.html The advanced features I used on my project were advanced tables. These tables use graphic bullets for the different lists. I also have a secondary table within a primary table on the first page.
Maria Arciniegas March 7, 2000 http://servercc.oakton.edu/~maria/classwww131/project/labs-edit.html The name of the web page is Oakton Community College - Information Technology. The page is designed for the faculty, staff, and students at Oakton Community College. The pages contain general information regarding computer lab facts, schedules, and equipment. I created this web page to assist the department where I am employed. The actual pages in the college site are not updated, they do not have the current information, and they are not properly designed. I have created a web page that flows better and helps the user. The first page contains the same graphic (design or layout) that is on the Guide to the computer labs at Oakton. The first part of the table displays general information, and those links take you to the "General Information" page. There, each lab is described in detail, including information about the equipment and software, the room numbers, and phones numbers. The second part to the first page is a table that links the user to the rest of the pages. The third part of the table is the Labs Specification; this section contains the links for each of the labs to the Lab Specification table. I started the first and second page as regular pages with the information displayed in paragraphs. Also, I added graphics to the Home Page, which were very difficult to situate. In order to properly exhibit these new graphics, I created a table that organized the title, graphics, and the table with the links. On the General Information page, I created a table as the first section. This table has the same colors format and organization as the table from the Home Page. This page has links to all of the labs, so the user does not have to go through the whole page to find out about one particular lab. The lab specification page was the most difficult to fill out. The flow of information had to be the same for each of the labs available in the school. The table is linked to the main Home page so the user knows where to go and doesn't need to look through the whole table. At the same time, if the faculty and staff need to look for a particular room with a specific hardware, the Home page has a link that takes the user to the beginning of the specification table. I tried to create two frames the first one on the Home Page, with all the links to the General Information and the Lab specifications, but the information looked crowded on the frame to the right. If necessary I will try a Special Labs link, to open up to the links under that category. This would prevent the main table from being lengthy, allowing the viewer to see all the information on one screen. This site is intended for anyone who wants to use the computer labs at Oakton Community College, or for future students who would like to familiarize themselves with the resources that the school and the Information Technology department have. I did view the home pages for other colleges/universities, and went into the Information Technology sites to see how their information was displayed as well as the design of their pages. I found that the Northwestern University site was very informative, as well as the Loyola University site, where I found a table that served as a guide for the lab specification section.
