Unit 5 – Artificial Intelligence
Technology has made tremendous strides in recent decades.
Especially, Artificial Intelligence, a technology with a computer
component, has established itself as an important and indispensable part
of all aspects of today's society. As it becomes more and more prevalent,
the topic of concern is the extent to which this useful technology should
be involved in people's lives. AI brings with it many positives, but it also
brings with it some negatives.
At first, the advantage AI has is that it makes things more efficient.
Said simply, it makes everything more convenient and easier to do. For
example, the fashion industry utilizes this advantage and uses it for
simple tasks such as making products. Humans, when repeating a simple
activity, get tired of it and the work is not completed to the same quality.
But AI can perform a fixed movement almost permanently with the same
quality and speed. Therefore, machines are better than humans at
patterned tasks, and this enables a higher working rate, solves manpower
shortages, and also reduces labor costs. In addition, apparel retailers'
marketing has been greatly influenced by AI, especially via smartphones.
Smartphones are used to identify individual users based on their search
history, and a lot of offers for related products that they may be interested
in are made to drive access and profit. Even my shopping habits and
those of my friends illustrate how this ability to identify and access
individuals has increased consumption rates. So, in this way, Artificial
Intelligence is having a positive impact.
By the way, think about all the unpleasant jobs that will be gone
forever due to AI. Among simple jobs, those that many people feel
resistance to, such as cleaning and garbage pickup, will be removed by AI.
Also, surgery and so on, a patient's life depends on operations, which
cannot be performed in error. But doctors are also people, and their
