Name some examples of business policies important for a personal trainer -
          Determine how much to charge. Set clear policies for how and when clients should pay.

program.
Difference between independent contractor and an employee -
          An independent contractor is self employed
Corporation -
          A legal and distinct entity, having independent existence separate of any owners,
shareholders, or employees of that corporation.
Partnership -
          a business owned by two or more people
Sole Proprietorship -
          A business owned and operated by one person
Risk Management -
          Managing yourself and your business in such a way as to reduce risk of being sued.
Standard of Care -
          When providing your personal fitness services, you must do so according to the industry-
wide standard of care.

Negligence - A failure to conform your conduct to a generally accepted standard of care. Liability Insurance - Protects you from potential serious financial loss in the event of a lawsuit and provides you with a peace of mind. Describe an Informed Consent form - This explains in reasonable detail the exercise test and/or program, outline potential risks, dangers, and discomforts, and describe the expected benefits of the test or program. Form should let client know they can stop at any time. Clients should be advised of their responsibility to disclose all relevant information and ask questions necessary to ensure a safe experience. Name at least six (6) steps you can take to manage your risk and protect your clients -

  1. Regularly update client's medical history forms and be aware of changes
  2. Document everything
  3. Become, and stay, certified
  4. Keep your instruction consistent with guidelines outlined by major organizations
  5. Plan for emergencies
  6. Ultimate responsibility is to the safety of your clients Define a personal trainer's scope of practice - Avoid giving special dietary advice. Advice must not be construed as a diagnosis. Don't cross over into domains of licensed professionals. Follow codes of ethics. Define HIPAA and how it may effect you as a personal trainer - Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996 that mandated the adoption of FederAl privacy protections for individually identifiable health information. List at least five (5) ways to continue your education as a personal trainer -
  7. Return to school
  8. Attend higher level workshops and conferences
  9. Go on for advanced certifications
  10. Subscribe to (and read) as many professional journals as you can
  11. Read text books
