procedure for testing flexibility - trunk - client lies prone with hands held under shoulders pushing body up keeping hips in contact w/ floor elbows should extend with no pain procedure for testing flexibility - hip flexor - iliopsoas clients lie supine clasp hands behind right knee pull to chest until touching trunk protocols for sit and reach test - lower back, hamstrings, remove shoes and sit on floor legs out front, feet dorsiflex place tape in alignment with the 15" make at the heels place hangs on top of one another then reach as far as one can go (keeping knees on ground) exhale out when going down make 3 attempts describe protocols for assessing - lordosis - client stands against the wall with feet 1" away breath normal and press shoulders against wall if there is more then a palm distance between wall and back this is kyphosis -strengthen. abdominals -stretch iliopsoas, erector spinae describe protocols for assessing - kyphosis - client march in place then stand normal if upper back is hunched or slouched forward and chin id jetting out over body -strengthen scapular adductors (mid trap & rhomboids) -stretch shoulder horizon adductors (pectoralis major, anteriordeltoids) describe protocols for assessing - scoliosis - client stands against the wall with feet 1" away breath normal and press shoulders against wall if there is more then a palm distance between wall and back this is kyphosis -strengthen. abdominals -stretch iliopsoas, erector spinae describe protocols for assessing - hip & shoulder height - client stands against wall hip width apart, no shoes measure both iliac crest from the floor (a difference more the a 1/4" is bad) measure both shoulders from the floor (a difference more the a 1/4" is bad) -refer to physical clinic
