American Government
Lecture Notes #12
American voters will have the opportunity to decide whether to endorse or reverse Trump’s education
policy agenda. Voters’ decisions will have policy consequences. In January 2021, will America see an
administrative presidency that further weakens federal oversight in student and civil rights? Or will
America welcome an administrative presidency that restores federal leadership in schooling opportunity
for all? The stakes for public school students are high (Wong, K., 2022).
In the Trump Administration we can envision most of these “Fourteen Defining Characteristics of
Fascism” working within the Trump Administration:
Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Disregard for Human Rights
Identification of Enemies as a Unifying Cause
Supremacy of the Military
Widespread Sexism
Controlled Mass Media
Obsession with National Security
Religion and Government are Intertwined
Corporate Power is Protected
Labor Power is Suppressed
Disrespect for intellectuals and the Arts
Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fraudulent Elections
