Human Resource Management in Context Task 1 Role of Performance Management System A performance management system involves the mechanism for consistently tracking employees' performance and measurably. The system allows companies to ensure that employees and departments across the organizations are working effectively towards getting to the strategic goals. Through the system, employers can track their employees'
performance, which gives feedback on whether they need support or not. Therefore, it is always a good idea for a firm to have a structured performance management system to ensure that the high standards of an organization are maintained (Schleicher et al., 2018). All organizations that put much of their focus on performance management have good business results. Additionally, organizations that dedicate time regularly to review their performance and assessment are more likely to notice an increase in employee motivation. Notably, a performance management system has great importance in every organization for the following reasons: First, it looks into the future, which is achieved through consistent monitoring and managing workplace performance. Early detection of a firm's problem is essential since it will be confronted earlier and have a more negligible effect on the firm. Some problems include noticing employees who do not participate in a team; the possible solution is conducting training or directing the employee to a department that does not require teamwork (Cepiku, 2020). Additionally, the employer can terminate the employees' roles and let them go in peace before the problem becomes worse, therefore, preventing unnecessary troubles. Secondly, the strategy helps create development and training strategies after detecting problems earlier. Training is conducted when employees lack the know-how to perform specific processes correctly. However, if they are not trained, the firm may fall apart due to oversight. But with the performance strategy, any problem is detected, and different training programs are created to change the problem into a progressive opportunity. Third, the performance management system clarifies the organization (Aguinis, 2019). Most employees are always unsure of the roles they need to play in their sector, but through the performance system, they
Time is another element that builds a perfect performance management system. However, it is a crucial element and, at the same time, a subject to incredible frustration during several appraisals of performance. Waiting for success to happen in a day is like compressing the firm to achieve its goals within a limited time. This is an inefficient idea and will lead to inaccuracy, making the knowledge required for progress unreliable. Effective performance management platforms present narrow discrepancies with a large margin (Helmold and Samara, 2019). Therefore, companies must have Artificial Intelligence whereby managers can rely on receiving precise and accurate feedback. Firms have to avoid the creation of rigid timeframes and unrealistic goals which may not be achieved at the end of the years. Accuracy is a pure element that has to be involved in a management system. It is the best way to evaluate a firm and provides a well-rounded picture of workforce performance and feedback. With immediate feedbacks’ individuals become aware of their performance in real-time. Additionally, through the accuracy elements, they become aware of their performance during different times and apply different steps for significant improvement (Sorensen et al., 2018). The purpose is an element that significantly builds the system of performance. It makes an organization aim at never losing sight of things that matter. All work is always directed to a goal, whether personal or professional, but it should be built on purpose. An organization prides itself in discovering a sense of purpose in whatever they undertake therefore making the employers have to prioritize and accommodate their wellbeing. To focus on the purpose, an organization must ensure that the employees invest in their roles as critical performance management. Adaptability involves having exemplary implementations as a crucial element of a performance management system. Through the adoption of the continuous performance
management process, the system's success depends majorly on the implementations made. Different types of information have to be considered during the management review, and this includes considering the overall trends and progress towards risk reduction. Most employee performance management systems contain several services to integrate the system effectively within a firm, and the management must determine the necessary goals (Zhang et al., 2019). For instance, for a small-scale firm to improve the process of recruitment, the management has to for the item that offers recruitment services that an organization needs. Task 2 The Basic Procedures of Organizational Safety and Health Management Managing the safety and health of an organization is an integral part of managing a business which requires one to conduct risk assessments to get to know about the hazards in the workplace and the best measures to be taken to control the hazards effectively and ensure that risks cannot cause harm to workers. Organizational safety and health management require the management to comply with the national laws and regulations. Additionally, employers should present strong leadership and commitment to activities in the organization. Moreover, the management should make appropriate arrangements to establish an excellent management system. Notably, the system should have the main elements of policy, organizing, evaluation, planning and implementation, and improvement actions. Notably, there are basic procedures used to manage an organization’s health and safety. First, a firm has to manage its leadership and the participation of employees. Employers have to get the management to support and provide leadership while performing everything possible to ensure that employees have participated in the roles effectively. A firm should implement and maintain the health and safety needed through management leadership. To acquire this, a firm has to establish a health and safety policy in the workplace. Moreover,
Companies with employees with a high chance of getting injured should have well- designed workplace strategies to avoid the consequences of neglecting safety in the workplace. A firm needs to understand that having a good plan improves employees' health, well-being, and safety. Notably, the basic procedure of organizational safety and health management supports maintaining a healthy work environment in the following ways: First, it keeps employees aligned to foster the culture of safety. therefore, creating a centric place for employees to be comfortable while performing their roles. All employees, including the managers and leaders, must be aligned to be in the same position. However, some employers ignore the essentiality of having open and transparent communication in the workplace, and these are dangers that may lead to an unsafe working environment. Firms have to find new ways of shaping the behavior of employees by offering inspiring safety stories, creating clear plans and conducting safety training. Second, a safety communication plan is built through the procedure, which becomes the company's principal value (Richards et al., 2019). With the focus on a good workplace, the bottom line of different roles is built together with the morale. It is an inefficient idea and will lead to accuracy, making the knowledge required for progress reliable. Effective performance management platforms present narrow discrepancies with a large margin. Third, employees can share their voices, and any form of leadership is encouraged. It always starts at the top management for a firm to create a safe workplace. This involves creating and presenting safety messages that encourage employees to follow them. Additionally, the top management sets the standards by providing an open and transparent environment. Organizational safety and health management require the management to comply with the national laws and regulations. Additionally, employers should present strong leadership and commitment to activities in the organization. Moreover, the management
should make appropriate arrangements to establish an excellent management system. With such an environment, employees can present their suggestions through constructive discussion. As employees participate in such activities, they feel empowered to contribute to workplace safety programs. Lastly, the procedures designate a health and safety representative with whom employees can share their safety issues and present them to the managers. The representatives can connect freely with the employees through the employers to ensure that they share their concerns freely. With the procedures, employers can build trust with employees and ensure that they are consistent with their performances. Most employee performance management systems contain several services to integrate the system effectively within a firm, and the management must determine the necessary goals. All workers must understand that the employer’s priority is to keep them safe so that they can present any problems and challenges that may be faced in the firm. Notably, a successful transition to an employee good working environment takes time to build, and this requires honest, consistent, and transparent communication and continuous check-in with employees.
