  1. List the steps in the maintenance process and contrast them with the phases of the SDLC? A. these six steps include  planning,  analysis,  design,  development & implementation,  testing & deployment  Maintenance.
  2. What are the different types of maintenance and how do they differ? A. The basic types of maintenance falling under MRO include:  Preventive maintenance, also known as PM  Corrective maintenance where equipment is repaired or replaced after wear.  Predictive maintenance, which uses sensor data to monitor a system, then continuously evaluates it against historical trends to predict failure before it occurs.
  3. Describe the factors that influence the cost of maintenance? Following are the factors which can affect the cost of maintenance:  Latent defects.  Quality of system documentation.  Number of customers for a given system.  Maintenance personnel.  Well-structured programs.  Tools.
  4. Describe three ways for organizing maintenance personnel and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of each approach? Disadvantages of each approach. A. Separate. B. Combined. C. Functional.
  5. What types of measurements must be taken to gain an understanding of the effectiveness of maintenance? The measurements are; A. Number of failures B. Time between each failure C. Type of failure.
  6. What managerial issues can be better understood by measuring maintenance effectiveness? A. It will help manage the cost of maintenance, for example the number of maintenance personnel.
