  • (^) Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are a very impor tant class of highly potent drugs designed as a tar geted therapy for the treatment of people who ha s cancer. It represents an innovative therapeutic a pplication that includes the unique, high specificit y and antitumor activity of monoclonal antibodies which are tumor-specific but not very cytotoxic, wi th the cell killing activity of small molecule drugs t hat are too toxic to be used on their own. Scientist s could optimize the features of both components by linking monoclonal antibodies with cytotoxic ag ents.
