These qualifications are linear. This means that students will sit all the AS exams at the end of their AS course and all the A- level exams at the end of their A-level course. The topics are divided into 8 core section and some optional sections: Core Sections:
Paper 1 50% of AS 70 marks Section 1 to 5 Externally Assessed
Paper 1 34% of A-Level 85 marks Section 1 to 5 and 6.1(Periodic Motion) Externally Assessed
(Thermal Physics), and 8 Externally Assessed
Paper 3 32% of A-Level 80 marks Section A and Section B Externally Assessed Written exam of 2 hours Section A Compulsory section: Practical skills and data analysis Section B: Students enter for one of sections 9, 10, 11, 12 or 13 45 marks of short and long answer questions on practical experiments and data analysis. 35 marks of short and long answer questions on optional topic.

A degree in physics is both very prestigious and employable. There are many fields in industry who are looking for physicists specifically. Physics degrees require an A level in physics. Studying physics at A-Level will help you develop a more well rounded and open-minded insight on how the world works. It can also satisfy your curiosity by providing explanations for many extraordinary phenomena. Physics A-level is usually required for degrees in engineering (general, aeronautical, civil, electrical, mechanical, sometimes chemical) A good grade in A-level physics will prove that you are a very capable problem solver.
