The respiratory rate determines patient improvement, evaluates the therapeutic response, and indicates when patients need to increase their level of care. It provides information on clinical deterioration and predicts cardiac arrest. When respiratory rate changes, it is indicative that the patient is having trouble maintaining homeostasis or control of the body's internal environment. to change when the body has a problem, and prompt intervention when indicators suggest that a patient is deteriorating improves patient outcomes.
