Assignment Three What is the amount of time necessary to pass a course( 3 credit hours) with an A? From the website, I have learned that you must spend 1-2 hours a day for each course you take in order to get an “A” in class. It usually also takes up to 6 hours per week for every subject you take. The less time you spend studying per day or week will cost you a letter grade. For example, if you only spend 1 hour per day or less than 6 hours per week then your grade average will fall to a “B” and eventually if you procrastinate your grade will fall lower. Also, people who procrastinate eventually spend up to six hours cramming for a test will most likely fail or get a lower grade compared to a student who studied over a longer period of time. How often do I spend studying for a course? Name at least three techniques to help you prepare for a test? Currently, I have fallen behind and I would cram for a test at least a day ahead. Unfortunately, it hasn’t affected me that much but I could have done better if I spent more time. For example, I should spend at least two hours per day for each course I take in order to pass successfully and to remain relaxed and confident. Recently, I am improving my studying in order to improve my grades as well as my mental focus. Unfortunately, I get bored reading materials from lecture notes or textbooks. However, I did use techniques in high school such as taking a sample test that I have created with questions and answers given to me by my instructors. I used the rehearsal technique. I am incorporating new techniques such as highlighting important words or text from the book or notes from the instructor. Moreover, I use a tape recorder as a note taking technique which helps me remember the instructor’s answer to a specific question that I may have missed in class. Has this assignment helped you to prepare for a test? If so, How? Yes, I learned how time management can help you prepare for a test by being focused and confident. I also learned about getting prepared for a test by getting sufficient rest at night which diminishes stress. Moreover, I would consider evaluating my reading skills due to the fact I
remember more material by memorization rather than reading the material. It tends to make me forget certain questions I studied but I have forgotten later. People may assume it is laziness, but I would like to know if I do have some kind of reading disability. What is your overall impression of this assignment? Name at least one example from this assignment that can be used to help improve your grades? Was this assignment helpful? There were some things in here that I already knew about, unfortunately I do not use these techniques as often as I should. I suppose when you are taking a full time class schedule, you must always be prepared. At the beginning of the semester, it was very difficult to catch up because it was the first time that I have used course connect or course compass. Moreover, it didn’t help me when my computer was inoperable the first week of school as well. My stress levels were high as well. I suppose learning to eliminate stress is the best way to improve grades. Even though I don’t like meditation, I suppose some music might be refreshing such as visiting Starbucks and drinking coffee to a calm soothing tune on the speakers. As far as I am concerned, this assignment was helpful but not 100%. If only I can learn a subject without having to repeat it over and over again then I would be 100% satisfied.
