Interventions and Care-Postop Total Hip Arthroscopy
AMS-60
Total Hip Arthroscopy involves the surgical replacement of the acetabular cup, femoral head
and femoral stem.
-Potential Diagnosis
*knee and hip arthroscopy treats degenerative
disease (osteoarthritis rheumatoid Arthritis)
*Osteonecrosis is a necrosis of the bone secondary to
lack of blood flow due to trauma or chronic steroid
therapy
-Patients present with:
* Pain when bearing weight on the joint (walking,
running)
*Joint crepitus and stiffness
*Joint swelling (primarily in the knees)
*Check dressings often noting any evidence
of bleeding
*Monitor daily lab values
*monitor neurovascular status
Elevated seating and raised toilet seat
*straight chairs with arms
*Use an abduction pillow between the legs
while turning
*Avoid hip flection greater than 90 degrees
-Pre procedure labs-
*CBC, UA BUN, Creatnine
*ECG
*Chest X Ray
-Post Procedure-
*Pain management
*Provide early ambulation
*Monitor new joint for dislocation
*Arrange for and instruct patient on the use of Raised toilet
seat
Infection
Post op DVT's and blood clots
Reaction to blood thinners like warfarin
circulation problems with with arterial impairr3
Increased mobility
decreased pain
shorter recovery time with early ambulation
