INTRODUCTION Biofeedback is a type of therapy which allows us to control our physiological functions so as to help in relaxing. Biofeedback focuses on gaining control over involuntary functions such as heartbeat, skin temperature, etc. It helps us become aware of our bodily function in basic sense.

USES It can be used to cure the following psychological problems –

  1. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
  2. Anxiety.
  3. Post traumatic stress disorder.
  4. Depression.
  5. Brain injuries.
  6. Digestive disorders.
  7. Migraines.
  8. Pain.
  9. Stress. 10.Tension headaches. 11.High and low blood pressure.

BIOFEEDBACK LOOP This is a classic example of a biofeedback loop or cycle or process that takes place during this therapy. STAGE 1 – Selection of the parameter one has to measure. STAGE 2 – Processing of the information and physiological functioning. STAGE 3 – Representation of the information gathered in form of graphs and waves. STAGE 4 – The information is now accessible to the individual for understanding, contemplating.
