Black Lives Matter in the Social Movement
I thought long and hard about which social issue I should choose and a lot of them came to mind. Then it was just about picking the one that really spoke to my heart and the issues I am big on helping in my community. I ended up choosing Black Lives Matter as my social movement. It is close to my heart and is a big issue in my community and the ones surrounding it. In this generation, there are several social movements for every cause, all with a common goal of respect. Many people share similar values, goals, and ideologies because they can share information on the World Wide Web and easily communicate with anyone in the world on the Internet. You can connect with people. They did not oppose the police when the blacks began demanding justice and fair treatment, but the brutality and excessiveness that the police used against the blacks and downplayed them for their race. I opposed the use of force. In addition to treating blacks unfairly, they also strive to balance their power. According to observers, more than twice as many unarmed blacks as whites have been killed by police. Blacks are more likely to be deprived of rights by law enforcement than whites, and research shows that this is intentional rather than
accidental. Which one raises the question, is the life of a black man as important as the life of another? After the murders of Michael Brown, Tamir Rice, Eric Garner, Kimani Gray, and many other blacks, people began to investigate the vulnerabilities of blacks in public and question their legitimacy. I did. Of the deployed police Blacks are afraid of their lives and no longer feel safe on the streets. The ongoing social movement is Black Lives Matter. The violence that once killed African Americans for race is why this problem is such a big social problem. The victims of this violence are African American citizens. The concept that supports this social problem is deviation. Deviations are defined as violations of established contextual social and cultural norms. One explanation for violence against African Americans is the deviant hypothesis. This assumption is based on the fact that African Americans are a minority, so people assume that they are deviant. Additionally, some African Americans live in poverty, and some justify the assumption that this is behaving in an unusual way. A second concept at the root of social problems is race. Because of police brutality and violence, blacks resist the law more when they are on the other side of it. A system of hegemony should train the police in how to deal with people, criminals or not.
mission is to build local power and to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes. They are a collective of liberators who believe in an inclusive and spacious movement. They also believe that in order to win and bring as many people with them along the way, they must move beyond the narrow nationalism that is all too prevalent in Black communities. The BLM affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. They are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise. “(https://blacklivesmatter.com/about/) The Black Lives Matter Movement is a new civil rights movement that fights this new form of racism called color binding. It states that race is important in societies where race is not considered important to unaffected people. The Black Lives Matter movement is about to move from color blindness to color vision. It is not ignored that racism remains a problem in the United States. The Black Lives Matter movement needs to continue to grow as a social movement and go even further than the NAACP and civil rights movements of the 1960s. They need to focus on getting more support from other organizations, educating their communities, and educating outside communities that they are aware of other cultures. BLM has a long way to go to achieve the changes it aims to bring to
society, but if it empowers those affected and educates those who need to understand Black Lives Matter. I believe it can be achieved. The Black Lives Matter movement was born after the death of Trayvon Martin and continued to grow with the death of Michael Brown. The two young men were dressed in black, unarmed, and were shot. The topic of police brutality has sprung up across the US as people watched LIVE on TV what unfolded in both cases. Both cases raise the issue of racism that exists in America. According to the “Black Lives Matter” article, “BLM has attracted the support of many celebrities and professional athletes. The movement has launched an activist network connected through social media that comprises individuals, local and regional groups, and international coalitions. While BLM has focused on police violence and disparities in the criminal justice system, many chapters champion specific issues that are local or personal to their members, including environmental justice and education. Within the movement's first few years, it spread to several countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ghana, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.” (Gale, 2020) The Black Lives Matter movement has been all over social media and it’s been in the media since 2014. “In 2014, the American Dialect Society chose #BlackLivesMatter as their word of the year. Yes! Magazine picked #BlackLivesMatter as one of the twelve hashtags
