1.1 History of the company In 1971, James W. Colachis, a businessman in Arizona, acquired the Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach, California. Upon obtaining the space, he transformed it drastically making it one of the most outstanding beach resorts in the United States. Additionally, Rancho Bernardo Inn, located in San Diego’s lovely North County area, was accomplished in 1975 under the JC Resorts LLC. Major expenditures for the benefit of expanding the number of rooms upgrading the 18 hole championship golf course, adding twelve new tennis courts and the general remodeling of this most gracious country resort have made it one of the country’s premier golf and tennis resorts. In addition to the 27 hole Oaks North golf course, the resort now covers 265 acres. In 1983, the company added the Scripps Inn, a small but charming 14 unit Inn, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Scripps Inn is located just a few miles from the quaint village of La Jolla and is situated next to our corporate office. In 1986, the Company purchased the Temecula Creek Inn and immediately commenced a total renovation of the property. In 2002, an additional 48 rooms were added to the property, along with new a state-of-the-art conference facility. In early 1993, the company completed the construction of its 18-hole championship Twin Oaks Golf course located in San Macros. In addition to the Company-owned golf courses, JC Resorts also manages golf courses for third parties. The majority of the managed courses are available to our guests and to the general public. All of the facilities operated by JC Resorts are renowned for their high quality of service. Since 1971, JC Resorts has been a proven leader in the management and operation of premium golf and resort properties where diverse entities are united by the same authentic vision, “ MAKING MEMORIES. Rancho Bernardo Inn is a destination resort known for its exquisite golf, spa facilities, and exceptional cuisine. A true destination for the entire family, the 265-acre property features 287 luxuriously appointed guestrooms, three swimming pools, an award-winning spa and wellness center, signature restaurants, and extensive meeting and event facilities. In 1963, when Rancho Bernardo Inn first opened their doors, the Inn consists of only 30 rooms way back then. In 1968, Rancho Bernardo Inn expanded its accommodation from 30 to 151 guest rooms and along with it, our beloved El Bizcocho was born. El Bizcocho is a well-known fine-dining room mainly enjoyed by guests and city residents alike. After that, the company expanded with two more guest room buildings in 1982. Therefore, Rancho Bernardo Inn is expanded to 287 guest rooms, the Catalina Ballroom is added as well as a fitness center in 1988 and became a Preferred Hotel and Resort members.
