Seasoning can be achieved in number of ways, but the aim is to remove water at a uniform rate through the piece to prevent damage to the wood during drying (seasoning degrade). Seasoning is done to make timber fit for painting and polishing, to reduce risk of fungal and insect attack, to make wood secure for proper penetration of preservatives. Method of seasoning :- Kiln Seasoning: In case of kiln seasoning, steam is used as the source of heat, and the heated air is directed through a chamber containing the pile of timber.
