Left Side of the Box – Setting

Use complete sentences to tell where and when the story takes place. You may find that there are many settings, mention them. For example, if you were using the story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” you might write:

The cold wind and swirling snow rips through London during the year of 1964. In a tiny, one- bedroom, wooden house, our main character Charlie Bucket, lives with his parents and all four grandparents. However, once Charlie finds a golden ticket in a Wonka chocolate bar, he is greeted to a world opposite his own – the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory a place full of color, sweet fragrances, and whimsical adventures. Where/When: place - time of year or season

Right Side of the Box - Characters :

List the main characters and write a few sentences about each one. For example, if you were using the story “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” you might include the following characters: Charlie Bucket is a poor, hungry boy who always looks on the bright side of life. He is respectful towards everyone and will refuse to take an extra severing of food because it would deprive the others in his family. Charlie shows his generosity further when he wins a trip to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and invites his grandfather to go with him to share in the joy. Willy Wonka is the lively, but physically small owner of the town’s only chocolate factory. He can be both charming and insensitive, especially in the way he speaks to the five children that spend a day at his magical chocolate factory.
