Last school year, Challenger ASB students researched potential mascots for their new school. After surveying students and considering various symbols, the Raven emerged as the top choice due to its association with resiliency, wisdom, and the ability to represent change. The Challenger Site Council and ASB Board endorsed the student's request, and now they are seeking approval from the Bethel School Board.

Don't miss anything!
Last school year the Challenger ASB students began researching possible mascots for the school.
■ We didn’t have a mascot! ■ Thought a mascot would be a good addition as the new Challenger was being built.
The Covid shutdown of school stopped the process last year.
The ASB researched several possible mascots and presented these to the Challenger students for their feedback.
This year the ASB surveyed the students three times. The survey results indicated 77% of our current student body endorsed the recommendation for the Raven as our Mascot based on the information we provided.
The ASB Board voted and endorsed our student’s request. (when did this happen?
The Challenger Site Council unanimously approved the Raven as our potential mascot in May of this year as well.
We are now seeking the approval of the Bethel School Board for Raven as the Challenger mascot.
The Raven would be a great mascot for us because Challenger is a place that offers students an opportunity to demonstrate their resiliency and to build a connection with their teachers, staff and other classmates.
A safe place for students to learn, grow and achieve success.
Challenger Ravens
Across many cultures, Ravens
symbolize the sun because
their plumage shines so black
and bright that it suggests “an
ability to have survived the
sun.”
Challenger Ravens
■ The Raven symbolizes wisdom, affection, healing powers, resiliency, and longevity. ■ It’s jet black color often represents the night, the great void, or even the Earth. ■ Some believe the Raven brought us to the light ■ This bird is a symbol of mystery, memory, and thought. ■ What other place would these powers be so important than a school like Challenger?
