Charting, What-If Analysis and Large Spreadsheets
Lab Exercise 9 (Excel)
Applicable Program Outcomes, Course Outcomes, and Learning Objectives: PO-3, CO-5, LO-
5, LO-8.
REMEMBER: Put your name at the bottom of each project printout.
Additional formatting and presentation techniques are introduced in this exercise. For example, Excel
provides a means for filling sequential patterns such as numbers, weekdays, and months automatically for you.
Calendar information (i.e., year, month, day) can be used in formulas so that elapsed time can be determined
and used in calculations. This project also introduces the use of logical expressions (if-then-else) to control the
actions to be taken by the spreadsheet.
Complete the steps on pages EX 145 – EX 208 for the exercise on Aquatics Wear. NOTE: If some values are
not legible on a printed spreadsheet due to shading or coloring choices, then change the shading/coloring
selections so that a legible printout is obtained. Be sure to print the Worksheet and 3-D Pie chart as directed
on page EX 200.
Test your understanding by completing Parts 1 and 2 (Omit Part 3) for the Shawshank Manufacturing exercise
on pages EX 212 – EX 214.
(HINT: In Step 2 on page EX 212, be sure to type an apostrophe before each date so that the dates will appear
properly on the Part 2 chart.)
For the Shawshank Manufacturing exercise, print the following items:
Worksheet printout from Step 10 on page EX 214
Formula printout from Step 10 on page EX 214
3-D column chart from Part 2 on page EX 214 (but don’t print the worksheet from Part 2)
Prepare a cover sheet for your work on a separate page consisting of the following information:
Your Name
Course and Section
Date Submitted
Project Three - Excel
Content:
Aquatics Wear
Shawshank Manufacturing
You are encouraged to use any font of any size to make the cover sheet legible and attractive.
Turn in 1. The cover sheet
2. “Aquatics Wear” - Worksheet and 3-D chart.
3. “Shawshank Manufacturing” – Worksheet, formula printout, and chart
