Abstract I have created my blog that can be used in children's hospitals. Parents will be able to access my blog and help to teach their children various lessons. They will have the ability to post comments, questions and thoughts about future lessons. From here I can take the comments and post new lessons based on the child's needs. In addition to my blog, parents and children can set up a Skype account and Skype with me in regards to lessons that they have questions on or lessons they would like me to create. Children's Hospitals: Using blogs and Skype so children can stay connected to their edu- cation. Summary This project examines how to best help students who are in the hospital and have to leave school because they are sick. Since I am going to be an Elementary School teacher the point of my assignment was to assist parents of children who are in the hospital by providing lessons that they can in turn teach their children. Parents will be able to visit my blog and read the lessons that I have posted. They will be able to comment with their thoughts, questions and concerns. They can also post areas of struggle that their child is having and I can then re post a new lesson that may help their child. Lastly, the parents, children and I can also Skype if needed so they can feel as connected to their education as possible. Context This project is designed for early elementary aged students. These children are taken out of school due to a sickness and need to remain in the hospital for an extended period of time. Parents can view my blog and therefore teach their children the lessons that I have posted. Objective Parents can post questions about how to better help their individual child in areas that they are having trouble with. Both Parents and Children can feel connected to people outside the walls of the hospital with my blog and by Skype. These students unfortu- nately are bound to the four walls of a children's hospital for lengthy periods of time. Therefore, they miss out on their education and fall behind in school. I know it's important for these children's lives to remain as normal as possible. These are the reasons why I chose to do this project. I feel this is a wonderful way for both parents and children to feel that they are still connected to the outside world as well as to education. Once these children are released from the hospital they may have

missed a year or more in school. Therefore, they will have to stay behind in school and feel even more disconnected to their old lives. I felt it was so important that these families stay as connected as to their education as possible. I created this project as a way for these children to continue with their education as planned, even though their lives may have taken an unfortunate turn, which placed these children in the hospital. Project Description My blog gives a little snip it of what my lessons would look like. It shows an example of a lesson on phonics as well as a sample math lesson. There is also a post, which shows what a parent may comment about my lesson and how I responded to these questions and concerns. The blog will have dierent subjects and lessons that will build under these topics. Standards By visiting my blog and utilizing my lessons students and parents will be meeting the following California State Standards
