  1. Why is it significant that the color emitted from the hydrogen emission spectrum is not white? -It is significant that it does not emit white (as white is the combination of all colors), since only certain colors are emitted by hydrogen as it returns to its ground state from getting excited. This also aligns to the idea that hydrogen only allows certain energies.
  2. How does the emission spectrum support the idea of quantized energy levels? -When atoms are given energy, the electrons absorb energy and it moves to different energy levels discretely (step by step), rather than continuously, which means the energy levels of atoms are quantized. As they move from different energy levels, certain color of light depends on the energy level it moves to. Since hydrogen only emits certain colors, it means it only allows certain energy levels, proving that energy levels are quantized.
