Leaders of healthcare teams play an essential role in coordinating services to ensure their
teams and organizations, in general, provide high-quality services to patients and the community
they serve. However, it is challenging to lead team, particularly in the healthcare environment
that is highly complex and dynamic. For leaders to navigate changing priorities and systems,
they must adopt effective ways that will help them meet the demands of their patients, teams, and
the community. Moreover, it is critical for healthcare organizations to develop and support
leaders. They should ensure they are empowered to carry out their duties. This paper explores the
importance of interproffessional collaboration in nursing practice.
Collaborative leaders focus on engaging other healthcare and community leaders. They
understand that collaboration is essential. It helps to build effective strategies and solve issues
affecting their teams. It also helps to improve healthcare outcomes (Kelly et al., 2020). Active
participation of stakeholders is needed for collaborative leadership to thrive. A collaborative
leader is committed to fostering a culture of shared respect and culture. Furthermore, they create
an environment where other team members feel appreciated and encouraged to share their ideas.
Consequently, this fosters innovation.

In recent years, interprofessional collaboration has gained considerable attention. This
has been fueled by the benefits it provides to healthcare teams. One of the benefits why leaders
are adopting the interprofessional collaborative approach is because it enhance patient care and
outcomes (Wei et al., 2020). This form of working and leadership brings diverse professionals
together. By coming together, they are able to provide comprehensive and well-coordinated care

The errors can be fatal to the health of the patient. However, interprofessional collaboration ensures all these care teams communicate in real time and coordinate their activities in a seamless way. At the end, there is more efficiency and better patient outcomes. Another benefit of interprofessional collaboration is that it reduces inefficiencies and healthcare costs (Folkman et al., 2019). The experience of the patient is augmented with better coordination of care teams. The organization benefits from the efficient use of available resources. This leads to cost savings and enhances the allocation of scarce resources. For instance, unnecessary procedures and tests can be avoided when professionals collaborate on a patient care plan. This further reduce the financial burden on the patient and ensure healthcare facilities are allocated to better use. Interprofessional collaboration is also critical because it expedites the initiation of treatment (Folkman et al., 2019). Waiting periods are common in many healthcare facilities. Most patients have to wait to be attended during consultation visits. Similarly, physicians have to await the input of other professionals in the care team. The back-and-forth between professionals can create communication delays and make the make the medical condition of the patient to deteriorate. However, interprofessional collaboration can bridge the communication gap. Healthcare professionals can use clinical communication technology to ensure there is constant connectivity among members of a care team. Consequently, the patient can receive care in time.
