The hygienist shall pass a test following the course and obtain a certificate of completion. (b) Current certification in CPR is required in addition to the mandatory continuing education hours. Continuing education became mandatory January 1, 1995. Every year, dentists must complete 15 hours and hygienists must complete 6 hours. The one-year period spans one calendar year (January to December being a calendar year).
