3. Does concept mapping help enhance critical thinking and clinical reasoning? Give an

example to support your answer.

In my own opinion, concept mapping is a helpful tool that enhances one’s critical thinking and

reasoning. Being able to understand a certain concept and map its attributes and ideas are another

level of understanding. For nurses, who must always apply critical thinking and clinical

reasoning, it would mean a lot if a nurse can understand and put ideas together where they should

belong. If a nurse instantly understands a certain concept map, then I conclude that it would be

easy for him/her to understand the concept being presented. Critical thinking is most important in

a nurse’s daily life as nursing uses a lot of it especially when they go to work. They have to have

spatial memory to analyze and do things – and I personally think that concept maps help improve

this innate ability in nurses.
