Learning Outcome: Upon completion of this lesson, you
will be able to:
Chapter 14:
Know all key terms (bolded) talked about in in your textbook.
There will also be a few questions from the three chapter 14 videos posted
in Canvas.
Be able to list and explain the different energy sources and which ones
are most used.
Be able to identify and explain how and where energy is lost between the
primary energy sources and the end use.
Be able to list, explain the different sources of energy (coal, oil, natural
gas, and nuclear) including advantages, disadvantages of their use, how
they are produced/generate energy, sources, and their environmental
impacts.
Be able to explain how electricity is generated and the transmission of
electricity.
Be able to list and explain the impacts on the environment of the
production, storage and transmission of electricity.

Have a general understanding of the transition to renewable energy and
what are the most common type of renewable energy that is being
consumed.
Be able to list and explain the four challenges of the widespread use of
renewable energy.
Be able to list, explain the different sources of energy (solar, biomass,
wind, hydropower, ocean, and geothermal) including advantages,
disadvantages of their use, how they are produced/generate energy,
sources, and future development.
Be able to explain what energy conservation and efficiency is and how we
measure it.
Be able to list and explain how we can/ what we can use/do to be more
energy efficient.
