DEFINITION 2 Yes I strongly agree that the new AFL womens competition represent an advance for womens sport the reasons are, are that Womens AFL will become increasing popular and increase women to become physically active for longer beyond their teenage years, that Womens AFL can help change stereotype and finally AFL Provides a pathway for young women into professional sport TERM 3

Argument (1):

DEFINITION 3

Firstly, Womens AFL will become increasing popular and

increase women to become physically active for longer

beyond their teenage years

TERM 4

Argument (1):

DEFINITION 4 In 1922, a committee in Australia investigated the benefits of physical education for girls. There were many debates for allowing this to happen, however the girls football pushed forward and fought positively to achieve what they always dreamt of doing. People thought that girls didnt have the strength to play a physical sport, that girls should not participate in any type of physical sport such as tennis, netball, golf, hockey and cricket. Wow, how things have changed TERM 5

Argument (1):

DEFINITION 5 since 1922.Now we see girls being more physical than ever before. You could compare womens AFL to womens soccer. Womens professional soccer was banned in the United Kingdomfrom 1921 till 1971 even though it amateur games often attracted bigger crowds than the mens game. But since then womens soccer is played in many different countries all over the world, with 176 national teams.

Argument (1) :

Over a million tickets were sold out in 1999 womens world

cup. This shows even though soccer was banned at a

professional level it couldnt stop it from becoming very

popular.Womens AFL is just starting out and it is already

attracting big crowds. No doubt womens AFL will become a

career path for girls to achieve their dreams.

TERM 7

Argument (2):

DEFINITION 7 My second argument is that Womens AFL can help change stereotype. AFL is a rich and high profile sport. It is known to be a rough and tackling sport or what most people would say only a mens sport. Having girls play a tough and rough sport like footy is like saying women are strong and capable of doing anything. AFL is a high rating sport in Australia, so to have women playing footy suddenly and appearing in the sports pages on the back page of the newspaper shows how the tables have turned. TERM 8

Argument(2):

DEFINITION 8 To try and stop the stereotypes, the AFL created an advertising campaign, which was inspired by a popular AFL campaign from the mid-1990s recreating iconic Id like to see that for a womens version. They mention how girls are physically capable of flying high, Aussie women can show strength and go places, to see women making Australian sport history, and women making a name for themselves in Aussie rules football. TERM 9

Argument (2): 3

DEFINITION 9 It shows how women are stepping out and the media is finally having the courage to show womens football. In relation to this we now see woman such as Serena Williams showing aggression and fearless behaviour within her games that she knew she was born to play. I saw heraccept the award for 2015 sportsperson of the year award and was very inspired because SHES A WOMAN conquering what people thought was a male sport in 1920. TERM 10

Argument (2):

DEFINITION 10

Girls who were seen playing football with the boys were

classified as tomboy or even had to stop playing what they

loved when they reached puberty. Could you image

someone telling you to stop something because it wasnt

seen like a girlish thing to do? How would that make you

feel?
