Introduction: The point of this lab was to learn about the importance of posture from analyzing quantitative data in the workplace. During this lab, the team was able to collaborate with one another in a way that we were able to discuss the importance of ergonomics and the consequences that are in place if proper ergonomics are not in place. Procedure: Our team used quantitative data to better observe the proper ergonomic practices for each peer in our team. We used a tape measure and a pedometer to calculate quantitative measurements to better analyze our ergonomic practices. After recording the required data from each of our team members in the laid-out lab we recorded the data and compared them with our fellow team members. Results: For Connor, if the desk height was 2 3 inches, these are the best measurements for Connor:
- Chair: The ideal height for the chair would be 19 inches. The height from the seat should be 8. inches. The width of the backrest should be 16.5 inches.
- Key objects: The primary location of both the keyboard and mouse should be 13.3 inches away. Any other objects at arm’s length should be 25 inches.
- Monitor: The monitor should be approximately 25 inches away. The height of the monitor should be 28.5 inches vertically from the seat of the chair.
- Text Neck: under the condition that the monitor is at eye level, there should be little to no pressure on the neck. For Diego, if the desk height was 2 3 inches, these are the best measurements for Diego:
- Chair: The ideal height for the chair would be 19 inches. The height from the seat should be 12 inches. The width of the backrest should be 18 inches.
- Key objects: The primary location of both the keyboard and mouse should be 14 inches away. Any other objects at arm’s length should be 2 3 inches.
- Monitor: The monitor should be approximately 23 inches away. The height of the monitor should be 29.5 inches vertically from the seat of the chair.
- Text Neck: under the condition that the monitor is at eye level, there should be little to no pressure on the neck. For Thomas, if the desk height was 2 3 inches, these are the best measurements for Thomas:
- Chair: The ideal height for the chair would be 19 inches. The height from the seat should be 10 inches. The width of the backrest should be 1 8.5 inches.
- Key objects: The primary location of both the keyboard and mouse should be 13 inches away. Any other objects at arm’s length should be 2 6 inches.
- Monitor: The monitor should be approximately 26 inches away. The height of the monitor should be 29.5 inches vertically from the seat of the chair.
- Text Neck: under the condition that the monitor is at eye level, there should be little to no pressure on the neck. For Brody, if the desk height was 2 3 inches, these are the best measurements for Brody:
- Chair: The ideal height for the chair would be 1 9 inches. The height from the seat should be 9. inches. The width of the backrest should be 18 inches.
- Key objects: The primary location of both the keyboard and mouse should be 13. 5 inches away. Any other objects at arm’s length should be 25.5 inches.
