Here are a few questions to consider when evaluating an article or any other
information source found on the web:
What can the URL tell you?
Is the format appropriate?
Who wrote the page?
Who is the intended audience?
What is the writing style like? Does it sound educated and professional?
Who is the publishing body? An organization, a company or an
individual?
Is the author an authority on the subject? Is the author an advocate?
Is the information dated? Is it current and timely?
Is the information stable or does it change frequently?
Is any information cited authentic and verifiable?
Is the information in the article accurate?
Is there a bias? What is it?
What is the author’s point of view?
Does the author use objective reasoning?
Could the page or site be ironic, satire or a spoof?
Could the material be propaganda, misinformation or disinformation?
Does the page have overall integrity and reliability as a source?
