After install an expansion card (network card, tape drive card, etc.) the system no longer works
properly.
PROBABLE CAUSE DIAGNOSIS SOLUTION
Getting an error message
pertaining to no driver or
adapter installed or configured
for the said expansion card.
All other functions are working
except for the newly installed
expansion card. Expansion card
driver may need to be installed or
disabled in the Device Manager
or it may need to be reseated.
See the installation package
and manual that came with the
device or remove and reseat
the expansion card. Check
Device Manager and make
sure the device is enabled.
The device for the newly
installed expansion card not
working or detected.
Other devices connected to the
system unit are working. Tried a
different speaker or headset (i.e.,
installing a sound card) and all
seems to working fine.
Problem is with the head set
or speaker that is not working
(in this case, we use sound
card that was newly installed).
Hence, recommend for
replacement of the output
device (speaker or head set).
Cannot boot system after installing second hard drive.
PROBABLE CAUSE DIAGNOSIS SOLUTION
Disk boot failure. Blue screen or unable to boot to
Windows.
Restart the computer and the
open the BIOS. Go to the
Boot tab. Change the order to
position the hard disk as the
1st option. Save these settings.
Restart the computer.
Hard disk not detected The data cable is damaged or the
connection is incorrect.
Check the condition of the
SATA cables and ensure they
are tightly connected to the
SATA port connection.
