Welcome to the City of Trujillo
Trujillo, also known as the 'City of Spring', is a pleasure to address as a
tourist destination. The city, located in the northwestern part of Peru, is
renowned for its traditional dance, the marinera.
Trujillo's Climate and Attractions
Trujillo has a temperate desert climate, offering a variety of beautiful
landscapes and tourist attractions. In the mornings, visitors can enjoy
recreational complexes where they can participate in activities such as
soccer, cycling, and swimming.
The city's colonial architecture is a highlight, with the Basilica Cathedral of
Trujillo, the Huaca del Sol y la Luna, and the Balneario de Huanchaco being
popular destinations. Trujillo also hosts various festivities throughout the
year, the most notable being the 'Concurso Nacional de Marinera', the
biggest traditional dance event, along with the Peruvian Paso Horse Contest
and Marinera.
Shopping and Dining
Trujillo offers numerous places to purchase souvenirs and gifts. La Plaza,
located at Jiron Orbegoso 428, is a popular shopping destination with stalls
open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. The Plaza de Armas of Trujillo is another
location where visitors can find typical regional products, such as textiles
and other local items.
For dining, 'El Rincón de Vallejo' is a recommended restaurant where
visitors can enjoy a variety of Peruvian, Latin, and Grill-style dishes,
including Ceviche Vallejiano, chicharon, Shambar, and aji de gallina. The
restaurant also offers typical Trujillo drinks, such as mistela and Andean
punch.
