Begin this experimental type assignment by typing each letter (cap and lowercase) of the alphabet in a font of your choosing using Adobe Illustrator. Keep the letters the same point size. Duplicate the text-block of letters and change the font to one of extreme contrast. Convert the two versions to outline. Move the letters on top of one another and adjust the sizes of letters in order to produce a proportional relationship between the two contrasting letters. Now, select both letters and add the "divide" effect found in the Pathfinder palette. Using the direction selection tool, delete segments to form a unique letter. Group these shapes to form one graphic version of a letter. Move letters on a baseline to create a phrase using your new font.
