Formatting Your Paper & Works Cited Using Google Docs: When you start your paper, make sure your formatting is set to “Normal.” This is the default setting. This creates a one inch margin. Next make sure you have your line spacing set to “double.” Set your font to Times New Roman and 12 point.
Indent the first line of paragraphs one half-inch from the left margin. MLA recommends that you use the Tab key as opposed to pushing the Space Bar five times. Create a header that numbers all pages consecutively in the upper right-hand corner, one-half inch from the top and flush with the right margin. (Note: Your instructor may ask that you omit the number on your first page. Always follow your instructor's guidelines.)

Now that you’ve removed the formatting from the citation, you can add your hanging indent. This is a two-step process.
