Important Reminder:

The “due date” is not the “do date.” In other words, it is not the day to start an assignment. It is

the last opportunity to submit an assignment for points. Unsuccessful students often wait until

the last day and rush through assignments, resulting in significant loss of points. When waiting

until the last day, a student assumes all risk and responsibility for any unexpected circumstances

(life events, technical difficulties, power outages, etc.) that may interfere with completion of the

assignment on that date.

Please do not ask for an extension because your computer crashed, or internet was out on the

night an assignment was due. A well-prepared student will have a backup plan in case of

computer difficulties. This may include an alternate computer you can use if needed (friend,

family, work, library, OCCC campus, etc.). A backup plan will only be useful if you begin the

assignment early. It is recommended that students plan to complete each assignment at least one

day before it is due. This will allow time to resolve unexpected problems and implement a

backup plan.
