Choose a day when you have partaken in normal and typical eating habits for yourself. There are 2 parts to this assignment. Part 1: Recording and Submitting Dietary Input and Part 2: Dietary Analysis. Part 1: Recording and Submitting Dietary Intake Go to the website - Cronometer: Track Nutrition & Count Calories (https://cronometer.com).
1. On the access screen, choose “Sign up for free”. 2. After entering your email address, personal info (age, gender, etc.), select “agree to the terms of service, then select “Create Account”. 3. Select the Diary tab. To input food, select the Add Food button. Key in one food item at a time (example: hamburger) then scroll down to find the closest match. Select the closest match to highlight it, enter the correct serving number (default is 1), then select the Add button. Enter foods until all food and beverages, including desserts and snacks that you honestly consumed in this typical 24 hour period. Don’t forget water and other drinks. Remember to input what you really eat – not what you think might be impressive. This is a learning experience. If you are unsure how to use the cronometer website, click on the Help tab at the top right of the cronometer web page for video tutorials. 4. Once you have entered all food and drink for a 24-hour period, you will need to create an Excel version of your entire food diary to submit to me. To create the Excel file, Select the Settings tab then select the Account tab (if needed). Go down to the Account Data section. Select the Export Data button and then the Export Daily Nutrition button. The Excel file will download and open on the bottom of your computer Save to your computer and upload this as part of your project to Canvas. Part 2: Dietary Analysis The second part of the Dietary analysis that you will need to submit for grading is your completed Dietary Analysis Chart found on page 2 of this document. 1. Use your cronometer food diary analysis and refer to some online nutrient sources websites that list specific food sources of the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals to help you with your self-recommendations for foods/drinks to remedy your nutrient imbalances. You will need to address each of your imbalances and be sure to include what specific foods you might want to add or delete in order to more aptly meet the specified requirements for all imbalances in food groups, and nutrients.
