Homework 4 (30 pts.)
1. (8 pts.) Rate Your Plate pg. 576 I. (#1) “Targeting Nutrients Necessary for Pregnant Women.” You will be listing 6 foods rich in 4 nutrients from this page (2 vitamins, 2 minerals). Refer to food source figures from Chapter 8 and 9 as needed. Answer the Questions labeled 1 – 4. For full credit, be sure you have listed 6 food sources for each of the 4 nutrients listed and answered 4 questions. I need 2 specific reasons for question 4 that require a little more thought. If your answers are too general or you haven’t given 2, points may be taken off. 2. (8 pts.) Rate Your Plate pg. 615 I. (#1) “Getting Young Bill to Eat.” Read both paragraphs and do the analysis which means: a. List four mistakes b. List four strategies. For full credit, make sure that your mistakes and strategies are separate. Confusing strategies as mistakes will result in points taken off. As a way of double checking, ask yourself: Is this statement a problem often the parents’ actions (mistake )? Is this statement a solution (strategy)? 3. (8 pts.) Pick one age group from the choices on Table 15- 3 on pg. 596. Age choices are 2, 5, 8, 12, 16 years old. Write up a food plan for the age group you picked. Use the appropriate serving sizes and number of servings. A food plan is an example of what you think they should specifically eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack(s). Be sure to make your choices nutritious that are not choking hazards. For full credit, give them enough servings throughout the day to use the whole plan. Not providing enough details will result in points taken off.
4. (6 pts.) Rate Your Plate pg. 655 II. (#2) “Helping Older Adults Eat Better.” Read the 2 paragraphs. List 6 things you could do or suggest to improve Neal’s nutritional status and/or mental outlook. Table 16-7 on pg. 644 may help. For full credit, I am looking for 6 different ideas. Using suggestions that are too basic or similar will result in points taken off.
