Idea Critical Critique Guidelines
Follow the general guidelines presented for the Article Critical Critiques for
this paper (have the same major sections of: summary, analysis, and
synthesis). Choose an idea related to origins to critique. For example, you
might want to choose an interesting evidence related to an origin as the
basis for the paper. You can investigate any idea related to Cosmogony. Your
idea should have some relationship to concepts presented in class. The Idea
Critical Critique paper is your chance to determine what will be learned in
Science 303.
Here are some possibilities for the “idea:”
- compare and contrast the interpretation of an evidence within both models
(eg, you might examine how “homology” is used as evidence within the
evolution and creation models.)
- investigate an additional evidence for a particular origin event within a
model.
- delve deeper into an evidence that was presented in class.
I must approve your “idea” beforehand. Once you’ve settled on an idea to
investigate, email a short description of your idea to me at
locklair@cuw.edu
The Idea Critical Critique should contain some new information not found in
your texts or class discussion. Of course, you should use Science 303
information within the paper, but don’t just restate information we have
discussed in class.
The Idea Critical Critique paper is limited to a maximum of 4 pages and
must be word-processed. Use a standard font size (~12 points), margins
(~1.25”), and double-space the text. Include a cover sheet with your name
and the title of the idea. Do not submit hardcopy. Instead email the data file
(either in Microsoft Word, rich-text, or ASCII format) to me at
locklair@cuw.edu
You must have several references for your paper and at least one of those
references must be from an approved book. A list of pre-approved books is
online. Many of these books are available on 24 hour reserve in the library; if
you chose a book from this list, there is no need for me to approve your
book. In addition to a book, you may use published articles and web
references as sources. Be sure to properly cite sources within your paper and
include a bibliography.
