INVERSE STRETCH REFLEX
Due to Stretch Reflexharder a muscle is
stretched the stronger is the Reflex Contraction.
This is seen upto a certain limit.
With further increase in stretch, contraction
suddenly comes to an end & muscle relaxes.

GOLGI TENDON REFLEX

INVERSE STRETCH REFLEX

Due to Stretch Reflex  harder a muscle is stretched  the stronger is the Reflex Contraction.

This is seen upto a certain limit.

With further increase in stretch, contraction suddenly comes to an end & muscle relaxes.

This relaxation in response to strong stretch is called Inverse Stretch Reflex or Auto Inhibition

Receptors Golgi Tendon Organs

STRUCTURE  Encapsulated sensory receptors at Musculo-tendon Junctions in SERIES with Muscle fibers. PATHWAY

 Afferent from GTO Ib fibers.  These fibers terminate in spinal cord on inhibititory interneuron which terminate on Motor neuron supplying same muscle.

 This leads to production of IPSPs on agonists, motor neurons hence cause RELAXATION of muscle.
