Virtual Box Steps
1. Virtual Box Setup
a)Download virtual box file and run the setup file. After execution is figure 1will open.
b)Press the New Button in first figure.
c)In second screen enter Name as Ubuntu, Type as Linux and Version as Ubuntu 64 bit.
d) Allocate 70% of available RAM to virtual box as Hadoop requires lot of memory
e) Create Virtual Hard Disk
VDI= Oracle Vbox mountable hard
disk (default choice for for most users of Oracle's Virtualbox)
VHD= Microsoft Windows OS mountable hard disk -Windows VM, Hyper-V, Windows OS (other
than a physical
USB drive) it's a nice choice for a second storage drive in a Vbox VM as it can be mounted
natively on NTFS compatible Windows systems when the VM IS OFF
VMDK= VMware mountable Hard disk (VMware is EMC's-->Dell's VM)
HDD= This is the Parallels HD in this post.
Qcow= QEMU mountable hard disk (Qemu is also a type of VM) wiki.qemu(dot)org
Qed= QEMU mountable hard disk (enhanced disk)
f) Create Hard Disk of space 100 GB.

2. Installing Ubuntu on Virtual Box.

Step1: Ubuntu image Download ubuntu image from internet. It is available on shared drive. File=ubuntu-16.04.2-desktop-amd64.iso In case the error comes out to be VTX not enables in BIOS then do then do the following steps

  1. Open the system in safe mode with the shift-restart
  2. Go to system Security
  3. Enable Intel Virtualization Technology
  4. Save the setting and exit. Ram should be less than 4GB OS Step2: Install Ubuntu on VM Now goto Store and add the downloaded ubuntu image by clicking on storage tab and setting path in CD/DVD Drive in Attributes. After this press start button and Ubuntu will get installed on your virtual box as follows.
