Background

Ozempic is a weekly injection that

helps lower blood sugar by

helping the pancreas make more

insulin. It is not approved for

weight loss, but some physicians

prescribe it to be used for weight

loss.

Ozempic works by mimicking glucagon like peptide hormone that targets areas of the brain that regulate food appetite and food intake. How it is used How it works

Obesity can lead to many deadly diseases such as: insulin resistance hypertension dislipidemia cardiovascular disease Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease reduces life expectancy Increase in Obesity Sustaining long term weight loss can be challenging and the use of pharmacotherapy can give people hope when they feel like they have nothing else left.

Results In those with a BMI over 30 without diabetes, Ozempic was shown to reduce weight by almost 15% compared to a placebo at 2% Those who received the drug had greater improvements in cardiometabolic health and and increase in physical functioning from their baseline tests Negative: Can cause nausea and diarrhea along with other gastrointestinal events. Side Effects

Ozempic’s Effectiveness in Weight Loss Management For Obesity Challenges of Weight Loss in Obesity: Metabolic adaptations resist weight loss. Hormonal imbalances affect appetite and satiety significant long-term results due to these complexities. Ozempic's Role in Long-Term Weight Management: Significant reduction in body weight in obese and overweight individuals. Higher overall weight loss compared to placebo and most other treatments. Improves metabolic health markers alongside weight reduction. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30768766/ Long-Term Benefits: Continued treatment with semaglutide leads to sustained weight loss. Switching to placebo after reaching maintenance dose results in weight regain, highlighting the importance of ongoing treatment. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8089318/ Conclusion: Ozempic offers a viable long-term solution for individuals facing challenges with traditional weight loss methods.

Ozempic safer than bariatric surgery After bariatric surgery, it is common for GI complications such as gastric ulcers, diarrhea, constipation, etc. Obesity itself can cause infertility due to hormone imbalances, but patients are advised to avoid pregnancy within 2 years after surgery
