The ability to analyze face shapes is helpful in a variety of esthetic areas. The face shape can be a determining factor in hair styles, the size and shape of hats, reading or sun-glasses, and jewelry. For the makeup artist, understanding how to help a client accentuate features they wish to be more prominent and de-emphasize ones they prefer to go unnoticed is a valuable skill.

Cool colors have a blue undertone, suggest cool-ness, and are dominated by blues, greens, violets, and blue-reds. Warm and cool makeup colors can be used to alter and emphasize facial features, especially eye color. They can also dramatize an outfit or a special look. 4. Give two examples each of warm and cool colors. The red-yellow side of the wheel represents the warm colors, and the blue-green side represents the cool colors. 5.
