Si Pilandok at

ang Batingaw:

Short Dialogue

Pilandok: Wag kayong mag aalala, magsisikap ako Inay at Itay.

Pag-Islam: Narrative Essay I had my baptism when I was just 6 months old at sta. ana church around October of 2000. I was welcomed to the world of Christianity with open arms. It was a simple celebration with my closest family. My mom don’t remember much about the occasion, but it was a very wonderful turning point in my life. I was named mariah simply because my mom is a fan of mariah carey. Yes, it’s pretty obvious but that’s pretty much the reason behind my name. Not only was my baptism done for the sake of having one, but it was also a celebration of my religion. Although I grew up in a broken family, I appreciate how my parents never failed to teach me valuable

1.) Among all the literary pieces we have read in HUM017, what is your favorite Philippine local text? Why is this so? Consider the characters, the story or even the morale. Basing from all the literary pieces, Si Pilandok at ang Batingaw is my favorite one. As scamming is too prevalent, the moral lesson in the story is very applicable to today. Though his character in the story isn't commendable, Pilandok motivated me to be better and not to do things that might cause me trouble in the longer term. The story taught me that it is not only the result which explains the process.

2.) In a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), how will you rate your overall learning in the course HUM017/Philippine Literature? Why is this so? Include your CO1 output as you reflect.

Personally I’d rate my overall learning in the course a 4

out o 5. Digital learning for me isn’t as effective and fun

compared to face-to-face sessions. I believe I could be

more cooperative and engaging if it’s f2f. Nevertheless, I

had fun reading and exploring different kinds of literary

pieces which taught me various of moral lessons that I

could use in my every day life.

4.) In a scale of 1 (lowest) to 5 (highest), how will you

rate the possibility of you continuing reading more

literary pieces after completing HUM017? If you think

there is a chance for continuity, will you choose

Philippine or foreign literature? Why is this so?

My rating would be 3 out of 5. I have short attention span

when it comes to reading but I really do enjoy it. It takes

a really interesting introduction for me to get hooked and

continue reading. After taking up HUM017 it made me

open my eyes to Philippine literature and how unique it

really is. Personally, I would choose foreign literature

since I got used to their way of writing and their genres.

literature allows people to learn about

where they came from and how past

events work to shape the different

cultures. ”
