Michigan Bowel Control Program
Prucalopride is for adults (over the age of 18) with chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC). Idiopathic means the cause of the constipation is unknown. Symptoms of CIC include hard and infrequent stools and incomplete bowel movements. Prucalopride stimulates receptors in your gastrointestinal (GI) tract tissues. When these receptors are stimulated, your colon responds by moving your bowels.
Follow your doctor’s instructions for taking prucalopride. You may be prescribed either the 1mg or the 2mg pill.
