This video is the story of the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and another composer,
Antonio Salieri. Salieri is the storyteller, as an old man, and you will see flashbacks from his
narration to the time when he was introduced to Mozart in Vienna.
The story takes place in Vienna. Mozart is there under the patronage of the Archbishop, but you
will see that the Emperor of Austria, Franz Josef, demonstrates both absolute power and more
enlightened thinking.
Please be warned, the scene you will watch has impolite language and Mozart’s girlfriend has a
neckline that wouldn’t pass WHS dress code! You can handle it! Enjoy the movie, and as you
watch or when the segment is finished, please answer the following questions. Put this in your
notebook on p. 97.
