Eat a piece of cake for dessert instead of a peach regret it - "I couldve had peach instead" what does this mean I had the choice between peach or cake To say I couldve chosen the peach means if everything was exactly the same, I still couldve chosen the peach To say the car could have done something different, we mean if the circumstances were different For a person to have done something different, we mean even if the circumstances were the same Determinism the circumstances leading up to my action force me to make the decisions I make doesnt mean my actions cant be predicted there are too many variables to make this kind of prediction if there was no peach, i couldnt regret not choosing a peach bc that option wasnt availabe to me if i am determined not to pick up the peach, why would i regret that? responsibilty comes into question if i was determined to do what i did, why blame me when i do something bad or praise when good, praise vs blame

What does it mean to say free will is true? Desires, beliefs, personality, chemicals, brain determinism says these things determine my actions the free will advocate needs to claim these actions dont determine my choice if determinism is true i dont control my actions so im not responsible if determinism is false nothing controls my actions so Im not responsible in this case either Either forces beyond my control determine my actions and im like a robot OR nothing determines my actions and my actions are like the flip of a coin
