3. Demonstrate an understanding of the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA) to include implications on nursing and health care.
4. Identify new and effective ways to pay for healthcare.
Legal Issues in Nursing and Healthcare
1. Analyze the relationship between accountability and liability for one’s
actions in the professional nursing practice.
2. Outline the essential elements that must be proven to establish a claim of
negligence or malpractice.
3. Distinguish between intentional and unintentional torts in relation to
nursing practice.
4. Identify causes of nursing error and client injury that have led to claims of
criminal negligence.
Ethical & Bioethical Issues in Nursing and Healthcare
1. Integrate basic concepts of human values that are essential for ethical
decision making.
2. Analyze selected ethical theories and principles as a basis for ethical

3. Analyze the relationship between ethics and morality in relation to nursing
