What is Nodal Analysis?

The goal of Nodal Analysis is to find out the voltages at all the

nodes in a circuit. We use KCL to create a set of independent

equations that can be solved for the unknowns

First Step: Choose a ground

Calculated voltages represent values relative to a ground. By

definition, the voltage at ground is zero. The ground can be

placed anywhere.

The art of choosing a ground

If there are independent sources in the circuit, try to place your

ground so that the voltages at other nodes will become

automatically defined
