To begin, read the headnote on first page of each reading in The Norton Reader. Ask me
questions if anything is unclear.
Take notes during class review and discussion of the author and work, which will provide
additional information and ideas.
Be aware that written materials are divided into two major categories called genres. The Norton

Purpose of research-INQUIRY Inquiry is to discover the truth of the matter topic. Cherry picking source- DON’T just pick things that confirm your thoughts Critical thinking- be skeptical Include all four sections Create document Start with subtopic as title what you choose to talk about Add 5 questions on your subtopic- viewpoints information and complications you may need to know Write a formatted work cited entry for the book Then one of the databases 2 book data bases 1 article from the 5 data base searches Do not use Norton reader and no internet source Stick to database Data base source page click on button cite or citation, or quotation marks select that make sure to select MLA format copy and paste MLA FOR BOOK AND ARTICLE INTO THE ASSIGNMENT Check the database templet against the auto citation you pasted Correct any errors Look at syllabus for common errors Content annotation Errors in the 2 sources for the annotated bibliography assignment DO NOT USE
