Stop & Shop is expanding its services by allowing customers to order groceries online and pick them up at a nearby store using the Peapod website. Orders are delivered in temperature-controlled totes and stored in Storage Lockers until the customer arrives. The service is similar to that offered by Roche Bros., ShopRite, and King Kullen, and is currently available at over 80 sites across seven states. Storage Lockers are constructed out of metal and plastic, with fans for air circulation, and are located adjacent to the store. Temperature-conditioned totes are used to keep refrigerated or frozen products for up to 22 hours.

Coca‐Colamachines,RedboxandBlueRhino.Aswiththeseothervendingofferings,theLockerscanbe
relocatedasnecessary.
TheLockersareconstructedoutofmetalandplastic,withfanstocirculateair.Thefansrequirea120v
plug,andasneeded,buildingpermitsforinstallationofexteriorconvenienceoutletsareappliedfor
separately.
ConditionedTotes
Temperatureconditionedtotes(usingchillpacksordryicetomaintaintemperatureforrefrigeratedor
frozenproduct)arestoredinsidetheLockers,andproductisnotremovedfromthetoteuntilitisbeing
loadedintothecustomer’svehicle.Thesetotesaredesignedtokeeprefrigeratedorfrozenproductfor
22hours.ThisistheexactsameprocessesasPeapodusesforhomedelivery.

Pick‐Up service offered by Stop & Shop

Overview Stop & Shop is offering a new service to customers whereby they can order their groceries online and pick them up at a nearby Stop and Shop store. Utilizing the existing Peapod online service, orders are placed on the Peapod website, selected at an existing fulfillment center near the store, and delivered to the store inside a conditioned tote, on a Peapod truck twice daily. Once at the store, orders are stored in temperature conditioned totes (using chill packs or dry ice to maintain temperature for refrigerated or frozen product) inside a Storage Locker, until the customer arrives during their selected one hour window, and parks in a designated, signed parking space. The Stop & Shop clerk then goes to the parking space and greets the customer, retrieves the totes with their order, and loads the groceries into the customer’s vehicle. After loading is complete, the Stop and Shop clerk then asks the customer to sign for their order, accepts coupons (if the customer has them), and the transaction is completed. This service is similar to what is already offered at Roche Bros. in MA, ShopRite throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, and King Kullen in New York. We have over 80 sites operating successfully today, across seven states (VA, NJ, MA, CT, RI, NY and IL). Storage Lockers Storage Lockers provide the ability for fast, seamless service to the customer. They are located directly adjacent to the store, often alongside other outdoor vending offerings such as Coca‐Cola machines, Redbox and Blue Rhino. As with these other vending offerings, the Lockers can be relocated as necessary. The Lockers are constructed out of metal and plastic, with fans to circulate air. The fans require a 120v plug, and as needed, building permits for installation of exterior convenience outlets are applied for separately. Conditioned Totes Temperature conditioned totes (using chill packs or dry ice to maintain temperature for refrigerated or frozen product) are stored inside the Lockers, and product is not removed from the tote until it is being loaded into the customer’s vehicle. These totes are designed to keep refrigerated or frozen product for 22 hours. This is the exact same processes as Peapod uses for home delivery.
