Wind Turbine Design Project for STEM Education, Exercises of Engineering

This document details a wind turbine design project aimed at introducing students to engineering principles. The project involves the creation of a prototype, an oral presentation, and a technical report. The wind turbine design demonstrates the conservation of energy principle (renewable energy) and shows real-life applications of this principle. The design is lightweight, affordable, and robust enough to endure some damage. The turbine is expected to catch the wind produced by a hair dryer or strong wind and turn on an led in the house attached to the turbine, signifying the transfer of wind to mechanical to electricity.

Important Design Requirements

● The idea must contain a math, science, or engineering principle.

The concept should be suitable for students in the Pk-12 range

financially (25 to 50 dollars) and academically.

Alternative Concepts Not Selected

1) Basic Electric Circuit:

● Very Common and Repeated
Idea.
● Does not show exactly the
application of the principle.
● Some additions was added
to achieve a more creative
design.

Final Concept

Wind Turbine:

● Demonstrates the conservation of energy principle (renewable energy).

● Wind Energy Is Converted to electrical energy

● Shows real-life applications of this principle

● Consists of consumable materials (Less Price)

How Does It Work? ● Strong wind hits the blade to turn

● Blade rotating with high speed ● Generate energy on the Direct Circuit Motor ● Energy Go through Electric Wire ● Black Toner Wire negative charge ● Red Toner Wire positive charge ● Connect Both side White Connector Cable ● Light bulb turn on

Close Up View

● Dimension of the house; length 12 cm, width 6 cm, height 6 cm. ● Length on the wire is 32 cm, white cable connector is 2cm. ● Cardboard tube height is 15 cm. ● D.C. Motor diameter is 3 cm. ● Length for the blade of the fan is 5 cm.
