NARRATOR 1: The story you will hear today is based on a recreation
of an event in a village called Upton Snodsb ury. This evening our
students will vividly bring this small commun ity to life for you and
touch your hearts through this heartfelt fab le.
NARRATOR 1: Children, learnt early how to use their hands to
support either parent and help run the hou sehold. One of the worst
problems affected by social conditions in th e 1600s was the large
number of children either entirely abandon ed or thrown on thetender
mercies of the local parish.
TERM 2 DEFINITION 2
NARRATOR 1: A long time ago, in a lan d much like your own
there was a village of Upton Snodsbur y. And in the village lived
10 orphans life was very difficult for th em.
The orphans were alone and in a des peratesituation they
needed a father to love them provide for them and keep them
safe,so he resolved to do something a bout it.
As the children reach the village squ are they see a growing
crowd of villagers surrounding the me ssenger.

The children began to worry they were afraid they
weren't going to be good enough, or special enough,
orworthy enough to be adopted by a king. So they
workedlong and hard to find something special to do, to
impress the king; to make sure the king would approve

The small girl, Alice believedshe had nothing to offer Her
hand was clumsy with the knife, her fingers stiffwith the
brush. When the little girl opened her mouth to sing, the
sound was hoars. She wasn'tmuch of a reader. She had been
doing the same crossword for six years.She believed she had
no talent, and so she believed shehadno gift.

The small girl, Alice spent her time at the city gates, watching the
people come &go. She would earn pe nnies to buy food for her
brothers and sisters by grooming peop les horses or feeding their
animals.And so, this is way the small gi rl Alice, passes the time,
befriending strangers, greeting people wealthy and poor, caring
for animals, showing kindness in smallw ays. her heart was big and
she cared. She simply cared about pe ople. they were all the same
to her the beggars and the rich. she cared fora ll of them, just the
way they were.
